John Vanbiesbrouck Hockey Journey EP63

My next guest, John Vanbiesbrouck, was pretty good at goaltending craft. This Detroit, Michigan native took a different hockey path, deciding to swim against the current, forgoing the traditional college route, and going up to Canada to play major junior. In 1981, he was drafted in the 4th round, 72nd overall to the New York Rangers, where he played most of his career. He also played for New Jersey, Philadelphia, the New York Islanders, and down in Florida, where he backstopped the Panthers to the Stanley Cup Finals. He's won the Vezina Trophy, was an NHL All-Star several times, holds several goaltending records, played in 882 NHL games, was inducted into the USA Hockey Hall of Fame, and is currently the assistant executive director of hockey operations for USA Hockey. Thanks for stopping by, and enjoy the conversation! Have a great day!!
